It means:

Most gamers play online.
Most online players are women (surprise for most, not really for me though).
Most gamers play on a computer.
An average of 13 out of 55 hours is spent on games out of total leisure time.

There's a thread somewhere else about people's reactions to the fact that there are more female online gamers than male online gamers, and I, for one, am not surprised by the fact. (Note, I'm a guy)

Nice find, by the way.

I just plain don't believe that there's more women playing online games than men. Loaded/inaccurate surveys ftl.

"2 to 1: ratio of men to women in overall gaming universe"

Quoted from the linked study. No clue what the "64%: percentage of online gamers who are women." is in regards to.

The 2:1 ratio is for ALL gamers, while 64% of ONLINE gamers are women.

Though on this forum it's more like 90% are male.

The Sims is an online game... so a lot of the demographics may be skewed from it.

That and it could also be counting online casinos, and I think we all know more women gamble than men. I think. Don't quote me on that, but it sounds reasonable.

Online casinos aren't under the category of technical "Online Games", but rather categorized as "Gambling Games".

Ok, put it this way..there's about a 10:1(at least) ratio of guys to girls playing Guild Wars. I can't comment on other online games I'm not involved in, but I'd imagine it's much the same in WoW, CS and the like.

WoW is actually very popular with women. When I played Ultima Online, Asheron's Call, Ragnarok Online and Second Life the populations were probably about 60% male (well, about 50/50 on RO and SL) but still had many more girls than GW does.

I wonder why GW is unpopular with the ladies? I suppose chatroom type MMORPGs like Second Life and The Sims are most popular with women.

The approximate ratio for Men:Women playing Guild Wars (taken from numerous sources) is 9:2. This ratio is on the edge of being 9:3.
